Easy DIY Washer Necklaces in 6 Steps

Upcycling washers into necklaces is a fun and easy craft project that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. It is also an excellent way to repurpose old materials to create something new and beautiful – all while not breaking the bank!

In this tutorial, you will learn how to make your very own upcycled washer necklaces in just 6 steps. So, gather your materials, and have fun creating your very own unique jewelry.

Dry Time: 1 day

Supplies:

• Washers of various sizes
• Leather or satin cords with chains
• Mod Podge Hard Coat
• Mod Podge Dimensional Magic
• Scrapbook paper
• Scissors
• Craft knife and mat
• Pencil

Instructions:

1. Start by tracing your washer on the back of your scrapbook paper with a pencil tracing both the inside and outside. Then cut out the outside with scissors.  If you have very small scissors, you might be able to cut out the center too; otherwise, you’ll need to use a craft knife.

2. Next, brush a medium layer of Mod Podge on the washer coating the entire thing as evenly as you can.

3. Place the paper down onto the washer with the design side up and smooth thoroughly. Wipe away any Mod Podge that squeezes out the side with your paintbrush and let dry for 15 – 20 minutes.

4. Once dry, apply a top coat with Mod Podge Hard Coat. You need to let this dry for 15 – 20 minutes before applying the Dimensional Magic.

5. Then, add the Dimensional Magic carefully, pricking any bubbles with a pin. Let the Dimensional Magic dry in a warm, draft-free area overnight. If it’s too cold, it will crack!

6. Once the DM is dry, place the bottom of the necklace cord through the center and thread the necklace back through. Add beads or multiple different-sized washers for a unique look!
