Habitat offers outreach and education services to partners who are working on the most critical environmental issues facing the Driftless Region.

In 2022, Habitat La Crosse purchased NewGround, a local firm that managed communications plans, brand strategy, website, and promotion for conservation organizations. By bringing these services in-house, Habitat strengthened its commitment to environmental sustainability.

Habitat currently works with La Crosse Area Waters and Fishers & Farmers Partnership. Explore their innovative approaches to restoring our land and waterways.

La Crosse Area Waters is a community education initiative supported by the La Crosse Urban Stormwater Group (LUSG). LUSG is a consortium of ten local municipalities who are pooling resources to educate local citizens about what runoff pollution is, why it’s bad, and what can be done about it.

Through education, advocacy, and collaboration, La Crosse Area Waters aims to inspire more individuals and businesses to adapt their landscapes for better stormwater management.

The ReStore is one of two Stormwater Learning Sites, along with Hamilton-SOTA Elementary. Every year, La Crosse Area Waters awards one local business or organization with a Soak it Up! Award, honoring their commitment to reducing runoff pollution through sustainable landscaping.

Fishers & Farmers Partnership (FFP) supports farmers, landowners, and local partners working together to protect soil and reduce nutrient runoff to streams of the Upper Mississippi River Basin.

FFP funds farmer-drive projects that improve farms and fish habitats. Professionally facilitated workshops and other neighbor-to-neighbor programs bring soil health and watershed groups together to hear real-life success stories, share experiences, ask important questions, build skills, reflect, and strategize as local teams.

To help rural communities reach their own goals, FFP offers science-based agriculture and stream health resources that put a lens on published information and technical services relevant to them.
