What We Do

For over thirty years, Habitat for Humanity of the Greater La Crosse Region has brought people together to provide affordable housing opportunities and create a community where all feel they belong. Our Team Habitat experts can help find a path to homeownership, build homes, make critical repairs, renew the environment, and reuse building materials.

We build
+ rehab homes

With the support of donors and volunteers, we provide homes for income-eligible families in our area. We select partner families based on specific criteria, and they contribute 150 sweat equity hours to help build their homes. Partner families purchase homes from Habitat using a 0% interest mortgage.

We repair
homes

RePair helps homeowners who struggle to maintain their home. Habitat provides interior and exterior updates to alleviate critical health and safety issues or code violations for homeowners in need. We also provide general handyman services for any homeowner, regardless of income level.

We reclaim
materials

Our ReClaim program carefully removes building materials from properties that are undergoing major renovation or demolition. We bring salvaged materials to the ReStore for resale or we use them in our ongoing construction projects.

We collaborate with local partners to make La Crosse a healthy, resilient place to live, work, and play. We spearhead initiatives like ReNew the Block and Neighbors Day, which focus on caring for the environment and caring for each other.

We manage
the ReStore

The ReStore is Habitat for Humanity’s discount home improvement store. We sell new and gently used furniture, appliances, building materials, home goods, and tools. 100% of the profits support construction and rehab of homes for local families.
